ZEVIO

In order to develop competitively priced entertainment products, it is necessary to gain the know-how to choose the most suitable functions at a higher cost-performance to lower power consumption ratio. Based on our experience in developing such devices, KOTO designs the all or a part of LSI which is needed to realize competitive next generation entertainment devices with cutting edge technology.

Our work

ASWAN
The LSI adopted by "WonderSwan", a handheld game console, which was released by Bandai.
CAIRO -SoC with B/W LCD display function-
CAIRO is an LSI with the function of B/W LCD display. KOTO developed the CAIRO utilizing know-how from producing portable game machines know as the "WonderSwan".
Numerous functions are on CAIRO including CPU, 2D graphics, sound, key interface, LCD interface and driver, and memory bank controller.
Among these functions, its 2D graphics engine enable users to enjoy high-quality graphics with relative less processing power, 16bit CPU.

ZEVIO, launched by LSI Corporation is an extremely high cost-performance processor architecture which is made for compact design devices with multimedia capabilities (e.g., sound, 2D/3D graphics). KOTO and LSI Corporation jointly developed its 3D graphics core and a sound engine. We offer the operating system, software development environment and hardware to support development on ZEVIO. These software suites are developed in cooperation with ACCESS Co.,Ltd. and HI Corporation which are leading companies in the embedded industry. KOTO can provide OS, drivers, middleware, 3D graphics engines and more as one of those software suites.

NEDO
Koto engaged in a research and development project commissioned by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) from 2005 to 2007. This project aims at the research and development of a multifunctional multimedia chip (Target Chip) with high computing power and high-quality graphic capability but at low cost and low power consumption. In parallel with the research of this chip, Koto also participated in a variety of researches and developments which helps to facilitate full utilization of the Target Chip, starting from various types of middleware and operating systems (OS), high performance software development environments, various prototypes of application devices for the chip, to research of 3D GUI (Graphical User Interface) providing a simple but direct operability. NEDO's evaluation committee expressed a high opinion on the research result of this project and commented as follows. "The research result is of a high perfection level and with Koto's current efforts in exploitation of its practical application in the fields of education and entertainment, early utilization on tangible products e.g. electronic learning devices with contents incorporated, is highly expected. In addition, the outcome can also be applied to an even wider sphere, including security and healthcare".
